How do I upload documents to Google Sites without file conversion or give links to the files?

I am trying to to upload files to my Google Sites website. I want to upload them without converting them to Google docs or providing links to the files. Does anyone know how this is done? Delight help!

I have a google sites account, but it is a work in progress at the moment. While I am working on it I want to redirect the users who go on the site to our current site. I have tried a gadget, but it always takes a couple of seconds, and looks really terrible. Is there any setting or quick way?
