Bootleg movies?
How do people go about making bootleg copies of movies? A friend of mine just saw a suprisingly excellent copy of Spiderman 3 someone sold him on DVD. Although the signal was a small low, it was a very excellent copy. How is this made possible?

they tape the film in a theatre…and about the signal, they doubtless had a excellent microphone

For a film still in theaters and not yet unrestricted on DVD these are the 3 main ways bootlegs are made:
1. Taping the film in the theater with a camcorder
2. Taping from the projectionist booth (better quality as the camera is centered to the screen and does not have to be hidden)
3. Ripping a leaked press review DVD (best quality)
For the first two methods signal is either recorded via the camera’s mic, by connecting it to the theater’s signal system, or combining separately recorded signal and video with an editing program.
Some bootlegs are also obtained from seats such as Russia or Plates, everywhere cheap but lower quality DVDs are unrestricted by studios days after the film comes out in theaters in order to combat lost business due to piracy.
Very rarely a workprint bootleg will show up. These are pretty much unfinished films that are leaked, and may control unfinished signal, music and special effects, time code on the video and scenes that may be later cut out of the film.

Like indicated above; people tape them in the movie theater with excellent equipment; downside not a excellent investment as it is “piracy”, a felony and punishable by a $ 500,000 fine, which includes people who buy bootleg DVDs.
Better solution; pay the less than $ 10 to see in a movie theater, or buy the DVD once it comes out…with a movie like Spiderman 3 wait about a month after it is unrestricted on DVD and you can get if for less the $ 8 legally on a gently used DVD.

I have recently been turned on to bootlegged movies which havent even hit the theatre yet. truthfully i delight in them so much that now im kinda addicted. no i dont reckon its honest to the actors, doesnt that make them lose money? they work hard for it, & im feeling guilty about watching them online. if u have had experience too with bootleg movies tell me how u feel about it also. delight be serious because i am, any insults will be blocked.
these are crystal clear ones…so far so excellent. if theyre not up to par they have a report button & its perfect within 24 hours.
half.com has gone so low as to be promotion these movies. & its hell to get your money back.

They dont lose money, they just dont make as much which is what like $ 7 less? I dont reckon thats gonna make or break them. Im not saying its a excellent thing, but just get them each once in a while, for a movie you really wanna see. So, you wont feel so guilty, but you will get the enjoyment.
btw, what site do you go to, to get them? lol

One thing I truly despise about bootleg movies is the quality. I’d by far and away prefer to see movies at the cinema. But if I have to see a DVD, it better well should be crystal clean visuals and audio. Bootlegs not only cheats the filmmakers (actors, crew, etc.), but it cheats the viewer out of the whole experience of a excellent quality production.
