Christian books?

Christian books?

Do you have any recommendations for Christian books? I loved “Mere Christianity” and “The Fantastic Divorce” by C.S. Lewis, and I will certainly look into his other works. I am now reading “The Jesus I Never Knew” by Philip Yancey. Do you have any suggestions for other authors/books? I’m 15, and I am able to know nearly all of what I have read so far, but delight no books on profound theology or in-depth philosophy that I’m not going to be able to comprehend. I want to read books that are trying and will challenge me, and are thought-provoking, but nothing that’s going to be way beyond my understanding.

Also, any suggestions of books about the Renovation or Martin Luther?

Thanks!

Possibly this is a silly suggestion, but if you haven’t read them, I suggest the Gospels, including the Gnostic gospels.

I do not know if you want fiction of non fiction, but if religious based fiction is your thing, try books by Andrew M Greeley. He has in print a LOT and his sense of humour he imparts to his characters is absolutely wicked! I’ve read God Game, The Final Planet and I am now working my way through Angel Fire which is absolutely hilarious, and thought provoking.

Oh, and as a slight seal of authenticity, he either is or was a practising Catholic priest.

I highly recommend “The God of Jesus.” It might be a small trying for you to get through, but you seem like an intelligent person. My pastor loaned it to me, and it really increased my understanding of the new testament.

If you liked C.S. Lewis, I would recommend “Till We Have Faces” and “The Four Likes.” Although very different, they are both quite excellent.

I would recomend Max Lucado.

Janette Oke has written some fantastic tales, check out her Like Comes Softly series. She also has single books too, like The Calling of Emily Evans, and A Bride for Donnigan.
Lori Wick has has fantastic single books and series out. The Californians series is her best but she has numerous.
Jan Karon has the Mitford series, but it doesn’t just focus on romance.
