None of them are really “safe” if you want to download music I would get into torrents, as that’s the most safe your going to get unless you are by services like rhapsody, amazon, itunes, etc.

If you are looking for filesharing, Limewire has caught viruses before finishing the download and warned me.

iTunes won’t have viruses but isn’t free and requires an account. Torrents are also honestly virus-free, but are mostly used for downloading entire albums. There are also P2P programs such as Limewire and Bearshare. These both have viruses, but you’ll be fine as long as you are smart enough to avoid them. Get yourself a decent antivirus (like Avira) and you’ll be OK

Limewire has too many adware viruses, BearShare sucks, and it seems like all the rest are sneaky—-trying to make you pay a “membership fee” and claiming their service is free. All I want and need is a truly FREE music download software for my computer so that I can burn CDs. Can anyone help me out here? I don’t want gimmicks or scams, just FREE music downloads.

well there is a website called bittorret everywhere u download the software and then go to another website called isohunt to get the audio . the only conundrum is isohunt only offers full length cds . but all are free . it is file sharing but no spywear . also it has a larger selection than limewire and is just as simple to use .

You mean everywhere can you download copyrighted music for free, I bet.

If it’s copyrighted, it’s not officially authorized to download it with paying the artist/publisher. That counts as piracy. And I don’t condone piracy.

I was never able to get Limewire to work either, but I have been by MyKazaaGold forever and have never had a conundrum.
