what is the best free music download program for my new macbook pro?

I just want a excellent program, reliable, quick, no viruses, etc. any tips? I don’t know what a torrent is, so if someone tells me what they are and how to use them/download them (in moderate detail, i’m not a monkey), ten points!!!

There is an addon for Firefox web browser that allows you to download music that streams from the internet. First, you need firefox. Just type firefox.com in your URL bar and click the large green download button. Install it onto your computer and then open the browser. If you go to addons.mozilla.org and search for downloadhelper (yes it is all one word), then simply click “Add to firefox” on the left hand side of the page, it should download rather quickly and prompt you to restart firefox. Restart firefox (you should see an icon to the left of your URL bar that looks like 3 spheres) then go to playlist.com and search for the music that you wish to download (not all the music is there but it is pretty excellent quality). When you find the music that you want, press play. After pressing play, you should see the icon of the spheres colorize and start to turn, at this point, click the arrow right next to the icon. A dropdown menu should come up, just click the download button. The name of the file will be a number and the .mp3 extension. Just replace the number with the name of the song and save it to your music folder. Voila! Free music.*

Concerning torrents*:
A torrent is a P2P (peer to peer) filesharing method (basically, it allows any person to upload anything and send it to anyone that questions). Many times, downloading music from a torrent is illegal, because it is free. What you want to do is search bittorrent in your search engine and download/install it on the mac. Then search for the music you want (e.g. “Album Name” torrent, “Artist Name” torrent) in google. Most of the sights that come up are really sketchy with porno ads on the side. ISOhunt is a pretty clean site. Once you find it, just download the .torrent file and open it in bittorrent. It will take a while to download because when someone sends a file to another person, it is often very slow (avg. 30 kbps on a excellent day). I warn you, often times torrents will contain viruses and it is very perilous to use them. If any person can upload anything, then you might not get what you really want.

A word about torrents- it is a fantastic way to infect your computer.

You are better off buying songs or taking benefit of free song downloads when you can. Right now there are about 1,000 songs on the Windows Myspace page that you can rip honest off the page with no need to download a program. Check it out: http://www.myspace.com/windows

Is there any free download music programs that are not illegal? I use to use frost wire but i found that it was illegal to download music so is there any free music download program thingies that isn’t illegal or is that not possible…if not possible what are some excellent ones? P.S. Is Lime Wire illegal?

yes lime wire is illegal and it will trash your computer. there are no legal free sites, because it costs money to make the songs, and when they are agreed out for free the artists lose money. there are some sites that give away some free tracks to get you to buy more. itunes has some free tracks. and also, mtv.com has free songs that are huge you can look there. fre trial is another way to get some free songs, but you usually have to sign up for a month or something. sorry, it usually just doesnt work out that way. hope i helped anyways.

hey if you want to download music from the safe site then try using http://www.kptunes.com where you will place yourself on safe hand. i have been using it for a while now and they have the largest network and huge database.
