try dogpile.com audio search or myspace music search (you don’t even need an account to search myspace music). if you have time to sort through the results, you can also try mp3space.com, purevolume.com, alpha1.ilike.com, and mediafire.com.

for really ancient, really new, or lesser known bands/songs, i have honestly never had a conundrum with limewire. but i also have excellent anti-virus and anti-spyware software.

I’ve found every mp3 I’ve ever wanted, simply by using Google.

I type in the name of the song, + “mp3″ in Google and dozens of links always come up directing me to a site where I can listen and download the song. (beemp3.com is where I’ve gotten many of them.)

I have more than 2,100 mp3s of my favorite songs.
