For Apple TV can I watch movies I have previously bought in iTunes on my computer?

I am considering charitable Apple TV to my dad for Christmas, and I am having distress understanding if it is possible to get movies off of my computer that I have previously bought onto the Apple TV without renting them for 3 or 4 dollars? If so how and how simple is it. I appreciate all of your responses.

I have a CD with some Mac quicktime videos, I can’t just pop it into a PC and use quicktime to view the vids.

That’s weird. Try by iTunes or updating your Quicktime.

first, can try playing those videos on a mac and see if they work.

and if they do, go to the PC but bed in the latest version of QuickTime. More liable than not, the latest version can play previous compressed format of the video.
