What is the best way to start an internet radio station?

I want to start a professional internet radio station. Not a radio show, but a radio station. I also want to do a VISUAL stream of some of the radio shows on the radio station. My question is what program/website service/device should I use to make the actual internet radio STATION on the audio side of the radio station and the visual side of the radio station?

Shoutcast ( http://www.shoutcast.com/download) looks to be the simplest way to start an Internet radio station, the software is free and there are different host options. People can search and find you from the Shoutcast.com homepage or from Winamp.

The TV side looks like it is beta, see below.

Highland Radio from Donegal on the Internet in London

Just got this from Curry’s in London £89.00!

If you have a broadband tie, a wireless network and like listening to the radio, you must get one of these now – it is incredible.

It can pull radio streams from thousands of worldwide Internet radio stations via your home Wi-fi network. It can for example let you listen to the latest news bulletin (on demand) and allow you to catch up with those episodes of the Archers you may have missed (offering the days in the menu).

It can search by country, genre and you can store 5 favourites which I agree is a bit low.

You can also search for audio files – music or podcasts and stream these to the radio too. Have not worked that out yet but the Radio can see your PC(s) and any shared folders.

I reckon this is going to be another of those ground-breaking media devices that most people will have in a few being.

I recently got a job at the dept of revenue, and have run through my ipod, and am tired of the radio. I have sirius in my car and like it and was wondering if the stiletto would work inside my work. If not could i get an iphone or something, and would that be able to receive the internet it needs?

I’m not sure about internet radio through a cell phone – it depends on whether your cell phone browser works in the area. Though, unless you have window access, I pretty much doubt the satellite radio will work. Our XM receiver sits on a window sill and sometimes cuts out when a huge truck drives by and limits the direct line to the sky.

Excellent luck!
