Are these qualifications good to get me into Case Western Reserve University?

Are these qualifications good to get me into Case Western Reserve University?

I’m an international student who want to study Biomedical Engineering at Case Western Reserve University and I’ve got:

- 92.5% on my high school grades ( Doubtless top 10% or 15% on my school )
- 6.5 on the IELTS
- 17 on the ACT ( I know it’s terrible. Should I retake it? Or should I take the SAT? )
- Done a few extracurricular activity

If you go to collegeboard.com you can plug in your stats and see for yourself. They take even test scores very seriously, and of the one you have that can have significant sway, it’s a 17…according to collegeboard 0% of admitted freshman thus far have that score. And unless your school really ranked you in a certain house, it doesn’t help much to estimate your rank as top 10% or 15%. 92.5% is excellent, but not overly impressive, and doing “a few” extracurriculars qualifies you for a excellent college, but will certainly not be the reason you get in. My advice is: Milk the leadership roles you played in the extracurriculars (any you can reckon of), take the SAT and get “WordSmart: Genius Edition” tapes for the Verbal section (it raised my score by 100 points), choose the weirdest, most anomaly major they have (preferably one that is geared toward helping minorities), write a very original essay in which you act like you don’t care about getting in as much as you care about writing an incredible essay spouting what you believe coherently, and find out how weird your heritage is an incorporate that into your essay. But your current stats won’t get you in.

I have a $ 5,000 per year scholarship at Indiana University-Bloomington . I know Case Western is a better, but should I take the scholarship and run or go to the better school?

What are your career plans? For some majors, IU may be better than Case. For business or music, IU would be a better choice.
