I want to listen to some classical piano from around Mozart and Beethoven’s time, but I can’t seem to find a station that I can listen to online.

I really like Last.fm, Pandora radio and www.imeem.com. The first two are Internet radio stations, and the last is a playlist website everywhere you can make and save playlists without the need for downloading your selections. See the links below.

One more thing… don’t forget that you can find some really fantastic videos of pianists on youtube as well.

When shooting for Humphrey Jenning’s film “Listen To Britain” the Crown Film Unit had the services of Dame Myra Hess at London’s National Gallery. After editing, much of the footage remained un-used. John Trumper a young assistant film editor at Crown (based in Beconsfield Studios) and a pianist, took it upon himself to edit the remaining shots into this small film. Some shots are in fact repeated. It is now available on Beulah Yesterday’s Britain DVD “Classical Music in the Forties” . This also includes Dame Myra playing Mozart, Sir Malcolm Sargent playing Britten’s Young persons Guide tot he Orchestra, Dennis Brain playing Beethoven’s Horn Sonata and Arthur Benjamin’s specially composed ballet coming to life in “Steps of the Ballet” Buy “Classical Music in the Forties” at all excellent record stores, from Priory Records on +44 (0) 1525 377566 or on line at www.eavb.co.uk
