I found this Ipod and Iphone site and was wondering, is it illegal to download the free mp3s from Google?

I found a way to download free mp3s, mp4s in a block that is on the site and in another section there is a link to everywhere you can download pdf files and pretty much any thing you want to straight off of Google. (A lot of which is found on clickbank and on the internet for sale, you can download them for free here. ) Is it officially authorized to do this if they leave the files open for the public to right click save target as or is it illegal. What about uncopyrighted, is it steal stealing? Can you be tracked? The site is http://www.ipodsandappletalk.com

Ok, all the site is doing is finding open servers that have those files on them available for download.
Yes it is illegal to download them, any music you obtain without paying the artist for a license of (unless it is with consent) is illegal. This way of downloading, though, is very hard to track so it is very unlikely that you will get caught by it. hope that helps.

Small answer: Yes, it’s illegal.

Long answer: It depends on what the copyright title-holder of said material thinks. If it’s Nine Inch Nails and it’s the record he place out for free on the internet, then no, it’s not illegal because he desires you to download it for free. Though, very few other artists do that, and most will view your downloading of their work without paying them for it as a violation of their copyright. They can then bring you to court for it and will doubtless win. To answer your other question, yes, you can always be tracked, but it’s not very liable.

There is a video on break.com describing how to download mp3s from google, more safely and quickly than programs like limewire. I would like if someone could provide me with written out instructions on how to do this, or a website that has the steps written out. Thanks!

Wow! Thanks for pointing this out to me, I might have to use this for myself.

Type this into the Google search box:
intitle:”index.of” (mp3) your.song.name -html -htm -php -asp -cf -jsp

Replace your.song.name with the name of your song, with dots instead of spaces. Ex: “No One Knows” would be no.one.knows

Then, if you have Firefox, you can copy the URL of the results, hit ctrl+B, right click on your bookmarks bar, name the bookmark “directory index” name the keyword “music” and paste the URL into the House. Then, you can replace the song you were searching for with %s and save the bookmark.

Now, you can simply type music song.here in the take up bar, and it will automatically search files.

I reckon the Firefox thing was cool, but it’s really unneeded. If you have Internet Explorer, you just have to type all that code in when you want a song.

One of the people that I subscribed to on Youtube has a really excellent instructional video on how to download mp3s off of google. But even better is that he made a website for an even simpler use so that you don’t have to memorize or keep photocopying the url. It’s a really excellent site that i like.
