Why can't I play music samples from sites like Walmart, FYE?

You must not have the media player that they use. I personally would recommend yahoo shopping or itunes if you want to hear the songs before you buy them.

Something that would allow me to make quality beats, bass, along with keyboards to provide the “sounds”. Essentially, something for composing electronic music/samples. I estimate it could be something a DJ would use to make the long mixes. Multi-track. LIke when I have a beat and signal in my head, (like something you could rap over)….I’m looking for something that can turn my thought/thoughts into real music. Lay down the beat, then compose the sounds. At least 4 tracks. I’m also looking for something that is entry level, but not some cheap casio board from Walmart. Will $ 1000 take in it?

A 1000.00$ can do it, especially If you already have a computer. You might wanna try Ableton Live 6 as it is a fantastic tool and runs on either Mac or PC. If you already have a Mac and are feeling serious then don’t mess around. Just get Digital Performer as it has the best control of all the aspects you are looking to take in and then some. The minor downside is that Digital Performer and a Mac can be an expensive route to take. Anything else in hardware with as much ability as the software I recommended will most liable cost you over a grand and even then after you got that piece of gear you’d still need to have something to record yourself into audio with.

Its either that or try getting one of the more advanced Korg Electribes that can sample and a very cheap tape cassette four track.

A excellent mic and pre-amp are pretty much elemental for clean sounding vocals but if you get these items first thing you could be paying a honest quantity of cash for them. Easily over 200.00$

P.S. If you wanna different way to see what your other options for making music are that are out there just look for some video tutorials to watch online of the things you wanna know more about! You’ll learn a few thing after a small time of just watching. The users you find out there usually aren’t shy about explaining the pitfalls of their audio equipment choices either because they have been frustrated.

Learn all you can to avoid making terrible personal choices on the music equipment you buy. There is a ton of stuff most people shouldn’t wast their time on but they do because they don’t know any better.

P.P.S. If you ever go looking at the Roland groove boxes for your sequencing don’t get a MC-909. They don’t do a excellent job of that.
