How does a german colleague get rid of a grey picture that has recently appeared using yahoo messenger video?

A German colleague and I have been video conferencing via yahoo messenger (for its multi video capabilities) for a couple of being – as of late his picture is grey!!! We have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, he has tried different computers, I can not remember if we tried grown-up versions of yahoo messenger. Anyone with any similiar experiences or suggestions. In the mean time we are unaware of free multi video competent replacement. Any input is appreciated – Thanks!

The ‘start a video call’ and ‘voice call’ buttons on my Yahoo Messenger are not active and appear grey. Whilst my wife can initiate us both seeing each other on webcam, it does get a small tedious after a while without being able to talk.
Everything works fine when I use the works computer running on windows vista.
Help anyone delight?

if your by the linux (linpus lite) version of the acer aspire one, then im guessing your talking about the messenger application it comes with which allows you to sign in and use your yahoo and msn accounts amongst other things. i you read the instructions that came with the acer one it stipulates the some of these functions might not work. i for one have yet to find an app for linux which allows you to use the video funtion of a yahoo account except kopete but i have had no success installing it in the aspire one. if you have a windows live account i find that to work ok with the asper ones messenger.
