how come iphone's google map turn by turn (GPS) doesn't talk but android talks?

Answer by no
The iPhone doesn’t have the functionality to talk. For talking turn by turn GPS on the iPhone you need to get a pay application.

Android has built in speech for the turn by turn directions.

The iPhone does not have turn-by-turn GPS navigation, it only gives you a highlighted route for YOU to follow, if you miss a turn, YOU have to get directions again to draw you a new route. It is only a fancy list or guide.

Google maps for Android phones running 2.0 or higher have right turn-by-turn navigation, so if you miss a turn, it will automatically switch for you.

Small version, Apple iPhone is not a right navigation unit.

Google has the ability to make a turn by turn app but Apple doesn’t and so you will have to pay something like $ 100 to get it on the iPhone.

Sorry, Nick D., I couldn’t resist.

Vark.com, thanks for putting a smile on my face today.

We all know about the iphone and the new google g1 but what will sprint and verizon come out with to truely compete with these? I know about the new touchscreen blackberry but I’m talking about an all around phone (wi-fi and all).

Answer by kevbeer2003
sprint already has the HTC touch pro, which in my opinion is a much better, more powerful, and cooler phone than the iphone or google g1. Google g1 is fascinating with its fresh android operating system, and the iphone is beyond doubt a nice device too, but honestly I reckon LG voyager (offered by verizon) is better than both of these.

I will be getting a google g1 within the week.

I agree with the 1st answerer. Sprint is coming out with the HTC Touch Pro which is going to be a huge hit. Its going to smash the iPhone.
I do not know about Verizon because I haven’t looked at their phones.

In a sort of answer to Apple and Google/T-Mobile, Verizon will be getting RIM’s latest addition to the BlackBerry family, the Storm! It’s a touchscreen BlackBerry, the first in RIM’s lineup, and I was very excited about this one until I found out it was going to be for Verizon (and I got the G1 instead, since I’m T-Mobile, haha).
