What format should I burn my music onto cd-r discs? audio cd or mp3 cd?

Im burning about 20 hours of music onto 10 memorex cd-r discs that I bought. Unfortunately, i dont know what format to burn them onto so that they will play in my car’s cd player. Should I burn them to Audio CD or MP3 CD?

You will NOT be able to fit all 20 hours onto just ten discs if you’re making an audio cd.

An audio cd is something you play in a boombox or a car. It’s like a normal cd you buy at the store. You can maybe fit 20 songs tops.

An MP3 cd can fit a couple hundred songs, depending on FILE SIZE. Typically, a MP3 cd can hold a few hundred songs to listen to in the car.

BUT, you’re car may not be MP3 cd compatible. This you have to find out by reading your car’s manual.

Unless you’re car was made in the past few years, I’m assuming it can only play audio cd’s.

If this is the case, you won’t be able to fit all that music onto the cd’s. You’ll have to select a few songs, and make some small audio cd’s, or if you’re car has an auxiliary port or tape deck, you can buy an attachment and use an mp3 player/iPod to have a lot of music.

If you burn it as an audio CD, you only get to place a few songs (around 10-20?) as the file sizes will be very huge. If you burn it as mp3′s, you would be able to place a lot more songs (hundreds?) in there.

Then you also have to consider where you will be using the CD. If the device reads audio CD only then you have no choice.

When making backups, it would be best to burn as mp3. When distributing as samplers, burn as audio CD.

I have a yamaha rx-v863 receiver (hdmi ready and 7.1 surround sound capable). I Just bought a samsung bd-p2500 blu-ray player also HDMI. when connecting the blu-ray to the receiver, Is just using a hdmi cable sufficient to get 7.1 surround and record or do I also need to connect the audio L/R,center etc. cables. the manuals and the help lines are of small help.

Answer by Cableguy
Just the HDMI unless you are using zone 2 if you are using zone two feature hook up the analog reg white cables also

Answer by Daniel K
The HDMI cable carries surround audio and record. That should do it.

Answer by Peter D
Red/white RCA cables will only send 2-direct audio. An HDMI cable will send HD record and up to 7.1 audio. If someone told you differently make a mental note to disregard that person’s electronics advice in the future. :-)

Your receiver supports audio via HDMI connection so you don’t need to use any audio cables from Blu-ray player for surround sound.
