Where to buy Altec Lansing speakers in the UK?
by Ken Lund
I am looking to buy a particular set of Altec Lansing speakers, The Altec Lansing Expressionist Ultras
Link : http://international.alteclansing.com/united_kingdom/mx6021-expressionist-ultra-pc-computer-speakers-for-music-movies-gaming.html
I have looked on Amazon but I have found 2 reviews on these particular speakers saying that the state they arrived in was not what Amazon had made them out to be. There fore i am avoiding spending £150 on speakers that may not be everything i am looking for. Does any person know of any additional online supplies that deal with much Altec Lansing gear?
Thanks

Hi, my teacher recommended me to get a 4/4 violin, since my 3/4 one is too small for me now. She doesn’t mean like a super awesome expensieve violin, but, I reckon that if I’m going to get a new one and make an investment, then let it be a excellent instrument that will be with me for years and years to come. I’ve been searching Shar music online (there are no violin supplies where I live, so my teacher suggested Shar music) and I really like their Ruggeri model violin. It’s so pretty, and has excellent review and all. The price is $ 3,700. Is it a excellent deal? Should I get a less expensive violin? I mean, are all the new violins same in sound, like, is there not much difference?
Thanks

No, not all violins sound the same. There will be a pretty huge difference even among violins of the same price. Some will sound very sweet in the high register, some will have a more powerful lower register, some will be bright overall, some will be dark, and so on. If you play ten violins in the $ 3500-4000 price range y 1;u’ll probably despise a few of them, be indifferent about a few, and with any luck you’ll like one or two.
Shar has an in-home trial program which lets you play an instrument for a week or so and see if it suits your own preferences. I highly recommend that if you’re going to spend a large chunk of cash on a violin. Call them and tell them what you’re looking for and they’ll try to send out a violin that suits your preferences.

If you’re still learning and in high school that’s probably about the right level of violin for you. Your teacher is probably right, but I would not buy an instrument without before a live audience it first. Even violins of the same brand will sound different. If there’s any way to get to a excellent thread shop you should get to one a 10;d get a violin there. My daughters have always bought their instruments from a shop that does 100% trade-up, which earnings if you buy a violin from them today for $ 3000, they’ll give you $ 3000 for it if you come back in a few years and buy a new violin from them. Unless you’re buying a $ 20,000 antique instrument you won’t get more for it than you paid anyway (th ;ey’re not a financial investment that will be grateful for in value). So, you’re really buying it to play it and delight in it, so disregard the price and find one you like before a live audience that sounds excellent to you. Keep in mind you can spend as much for a excellent bow as you are for the violin too! My daughter is a viola performance major in college and recently shopped f 111;r a new professional grade viola. The ones she was looking at started around $ 15,000. Luckily she settled on a $ 3,500 shop instrument from a community viola maker that she thought sounded better than the ancient German $ 15,000 ones she was trying out. Then she spent another $ 3,000 on a bow!
Shar music did send my daughter 3 different bows to try out. We paid a deposit, she tried them for a week and then sent them back. We got our deposit back. I don’t know if they do that with instruments, but if you do buy online they are a fantastic place to do it from.
