Why do metalheads disrespect EVERY MAINSTREAM BAND?

Why do metalheads disrespect EVERY MAINSTREAM BAND?

Okay, maybe not every mainstream band. But when I say I like certain bands (Owl City, Hey Monday, etc.), they say “That’s children’s music. Listen to some Black Sabbath.”

They just CAN’T understand that metal is just another genre of music! They seem to think pop music is shitty.

Well, there’s a reason why pop songs and country songs are topping the charts and metal songs usually don’t go anywhere near the Top 10 on the Billboard 100. Because people like those songs (not just teenagers and kids).

I’m not bashing metal, I’m fine with people’s music tastes, but I’m sick and tired of people who don’t respect mine and other people’s music tastes! I love pop music, and I think it’s a great genre. I’d also appreciate it if people understood that their taste is neither better nor worse than mine!
@ Katie I”m not saying that! I’m just saying MY TASTE IS NEITHER BETTER NOR WORSE THAN YOURS!!
And yes, I have heard of The Smiths!
BTW whats your definition of kid’s music? Any song that’s topping the charts? Any band you don’t like! I don’t like these songs because they’re on the charts! I like them because I like them! Got a problem with that?
@ Kip Dynamite I’m a teenager, and i listen to music that teenagers listen to. It’s not called “kid” music. Kid music is stuff on Disney Channel like Camp Rock that KIDS listen to.

wel im a metalhead but i like many of those bands i just hate any of the artists that come from disney and rap

It has alot to do with those people who listen to pop bashing metal music for being just a bunch of distortion and screaming and the common lyrical theme of sacrificing virgins on top of mountains which isn’t true at all but to the untrained ear it would just sound like noise. While on the other hand metal heads could see pop as sou less and talentless garbage with no knowing of musical theory. Of course neither is 100% true about 100% of the music. But generally genres are just about making generalizations anyways so really its just an extreme way of saying “No, I don’t really like that stuff”.

i know exactly what your saying. thats why ive started listiening to house music and electro. its part of the electronic dance music genre as is hardcore, happy hardcore, drum and bass, dubstep, techno, etc……. in the electronic genre we either like the type of music or dont like it. and if we dont like it then we just dont listen to it…..but we still respect it. and we still respect the people listening to it because they are listening to what makes them happy. just because i dont like it doesnt mean i have to go hate on them.

thats how the mainstream world VS. the underground world.

we all think our music is better. but what you have to do is understand we have different tastes and respect everyones choice.

except for mainstream rap…………lol jk………not

I respect your taste and your opinion. Please don’t generalize me along with the scum who have been disrespecting you.

some people just like bashing what they don’t like. personally i don’t like most mainstream stuff, but i like some. i like some metal, but not all. (i bash metallica where i can, thats where i get immature. i ain’t perfect) i’d just call it an immaturity thing. whatever, everything’s not for everybody. let that sh*t roll off your shoulder. in the scheme of things, its just small potatoes. :D

"Little Deuce Coupe" is a song written by Brian Wilson and Roger Christian. The song first appeared as the b-side to The Beach Boys’ 1963 single "Surfer Girl". It was released on the Surfer Girl album and then again as the title track of the album Little Deuce Coupe.

"Surfer Girl" reached #7 on the Billboard Hot 100, while "Little Deuce Coupe" became The Beach Boys’ highest charting b-side, making it to #15. It was the first of the Beach Boys’ b-sides to receive a million spins on US radio. Internationally, it was reported by a French internet publication to be the 20th biggest hit of 1963 in that country.

According to author Jon Stebbins in his book The Lost Beach Boy, while the group was on tour in July 1963 Mike Love hit on the idea to use short instrumental segments of the song in the Beach Boys’ live set as a way to introduce the bandmembers to the audience, starting with Dennis Wilson on drums, then adding David Marks (and later Al Jardine) on rhythm guitar, Carl Wilson on lead guitar, and finally Brian on the bass, before launching song from the top.

The music was written by Brian Wilson with the lyric by local radio station DJ Roger Christian; it typified the Beach Boys’ "car songs" which along with "surfing", glamourised the teenage 1960s Californian lifestyle. The car referred to is the Ford Model B; the 1932 model was referred to as a "deuce coupe". Model Bs were readily available and easily modified, as auto enthusiasts (or "hot rodders") removed spare weight and improved the engine.

Brian Wilson commented on the song in the liner notes of the 1990 CD re-release of the original Surfer Girl album: "We loved doing ‘Little Deuce Coupe’. It was a good ‘shuffle’ rhythm, which was not like most of the rhythms of the records on the radio in those days. It had a bouncy feel to it. Like most of our records, it had a competitive lyric. This record was my favorite Beach Boys car song."
