Q&A: There used to be a smooth jazz radio station in the tampa/clearwater area in the 80's,does it still exist?

If so how do i find it? Online maybe? thanks

Answer by AT
I’m from the UK, but have been working in Tampa reasonably a bit over the last year or so.

There is a really excellent smooth jazz station called WSJT 94.1FM. Available on the radio or online via http://www.wsjt.com/

Pretty confident it is the same one you’re referring too. The on air ads always mention is covers Tampa, Lakeland, St. Pete and Sarasota.

Yes i live Orlando,FL and 94.1F.M. is still on.

Give your answer to this question below!

To me, the best one out there is KTRU, the Rice University station out of Houston. Sunday nights are metal, Thursday nights is more garage stylishness, Saturdays and Sundays are typically jazz and world beat, with the rest of the week just depending on the DJ. Don’t expect the mainstream stuff as college radio, at least to me, is where it’s at. They also have set lists from each DJ so you can tell what stylishness they usually go with, even if there can be a wide variety within the same hour.

Share your station.
I’ll listen to about anything as long as it has a soul to it. Fantastic stations so far, I really be grateful for the feedback.
Ah, the UW station, I used to listen to that when going home to northern WA from Seattle. That is a excellent one Buzzkill.
Thanks all for answering. Everyone deserves a best answer so I’ll let chance take over from here. I’m off to start bookmarking radio stations.

94.3 the x out of knoxville tn. it’s one of the few rock stations we have here and they are pretty excellent. they share a lot of southeast artists’ music at night which i like because it’s a chance to hear groups and determine whether you reckon they will make it huge or not!

I am a huge fan of Indie 103 out of Los Angeles. For life a non-college radio station, I reckon they have a solid playlist.

Live 365 is the best, with thousands of stations to chose from.
I had my own station on ‘Live 365′ for a couple years, but shut it down as I just didn’t have the time required to devote any longer.

And the one that I grew up on / corrupted me forever:
91 Rock, WRVU, Vanderbilt University (Nashville TN)

I don’t keep up with WRVU’s schedule anymore, but back in the day you had, for example, the Dance Party From Hell on Friday nights, the Gothic Wonderland on Weds nights, an ambient show on Sunday nights, foreign language shows on Sunday mornings (no English spoken by the dj’s), reckon there was a hardcore show sometime on the weekends, etc … the Exit/In and The Cannery were fantastic dives for gigs … ah I miss persons days (late 80′s)

Fantastic station! I’ve heard of MANY bands that I’m currently a fan of through this station. Shake the Lean-to is a fantastic program to listen to – ancient school rockabilly!

I used to listen to the Green Waterway community college station – 89.9 KGRG – back in the day but I haven’t listened for some time so who knows if it’s any excellent anymore.
