Who funds awards ceremonies such as the MTV Awards?

Who funds awards ceremonies such as the MTV Awards?

Does anyone know where funding comes from for large music awards ceremonies such as the MTV Awards, and the Grammys? If the companies only use their own funding for it, how come it isn’t just one huge waste of money? How to organisations profit from large awards ceremonies? Are performers at these events paid to do performances? Please let me know.

Thanks.

I noticed over the past several years, MTV has been devoted nearly entirely to crappy reality shows. Why do they even call it Music Television when they rarely bother to play videos. Now VH1 is starting to do the same business. It sucks for me because I didn’t have cable when MTV didn’t completly suck and now it’s pretty much unwatchable. I reckon it’s when they started showing The Real World that it started to decline. What are some of your thoughts?

The last show to give MTV huge numbers was “Beavis & Butthead” back in 1998 which finished with a feature length movie…
since then it has been all downhill

When persons crappy reality shows started airing. The Real World was the huge deal back then and now it is The Terrible Girls Club and they are by the same producers.

It been played Real World/Road Rules Challenge, Cribs, Making The Band, The City and many additional reality shows on the lineup since Whole Request Live went off the air Last November.

They started showing The Real World nearly 20 years ago, I reckon that it started to go downhill long after that. The Real World and, to some degree, Road Rules were really the only shows of their type of MTV for a long time. When I was small, I would always watch music videos, which was the majority of their brainwashing. This was probably around 10 to 15 years ago. I reckon it really started going downhill within the past 5 to 10 years, when they started all of these “dating” programs and additional reality shows. They got a small heavy-handed with these shows and forgot what they were in the first place.
